Stop making these common health mistakes!
Want to lose fat and gain lean muscle?
What you don’t know will help you!
What you don’t know will help you!
Want a lean, healthy body?
In that case, forget everything you’ve been taught! Well, most of it anyway.
Here are 3 major myths that weight loss experts have completely wrong:
1. Lower your calorie intake to lose weight. WRONG!
This is completely wrong. Do you know anyone on Weight
Watchers? My friend, Katie, was on it. She lost 11 pounds in 3 months.
Great, right? Wrong. During the next 3 months on Weight Watchers, she
gained 8 pounds back because her body (like yours) adjusts to surviving
on that low calorie diet. She then got frustrated and went back to her
normal diet, the way she had been eating her whole life. Guess what
happened? Katie gained 16 extra pounds over the next 6 months, slowly
and surely. So, within 1 year of starting Weight Watchers, she was 13
pounds HEAVIER than when she started.
Katie was sad, frustrated and embarrassed. So please, eat a pure, fresh, healthy diet and don’t focus on calorie reduction.

When you reduce daily calorie intake, your body wants to store fat. It’s a survival mechanism we’ve used for millions of years to protect ourselves from starvation. Lesson – DO NOT GO ON A LOW CALORIE DIET
2. The amount of calories you burn DURING a workout is the most important gauge. WRONG!
Check out this graph:
Shannon Clark at Lose Belly Fat says it best:
“Keep exercise short. I know it sounds too good to be true, but long aerobic exercises raise your stress hormone, cortisol, which leads you to gain weight, especially belly fat. Short, intense exercise sessions actually lower cortisol levels and burn off belly fat. Even better, studies show that shorter, intense exercise helps raise your metabolism for hours after you finished, which burns more fat overall.”
It’s called the afterburn effect, check out the video for more: Afterburn Effect Video
If you are serious about losing unwanted fat and building lean muscle get on a high intensity bodyweight workout and let your body continue to work for you well after you are done working out.
Lesson: GET ON A WORKOUT THAT RAISES METABOLISM AND BURNS CALORIES EVEN WHEN YOU’RE NOT WORKING OUT.
Your goal for a diet or fitness program should always be 2 things:
1. Gain lean muscle
2. Lose UNWANTED fat.
The more muscle you have, the more calories you burn, the faster your body eats up your fat storage any time you are active.
So, find a workout that builds lean muscle. I believe that bodyweight workouts are the best for many reasons. For one, they cause fewer injuries. Nothing will halt your fitness program faster than an injury. Bodyweight workouts are also much more sustainable. If you don’t have to depend on weights or gym equipment, you will be less likely to ever miss a workout. I know I used so many excuses not to go to the gym: “The weather,” “It’s too crowded in January,” “Traffic sucks,” “I don’t have 2 hours to go there, workout and come back.” Sound familiar?
So, find a great workout that focuses on building lean muscle and burning fat.
In addition, we have lots of wonderful fat in our body. Fat protects the brain and all the organs of the body. It’s the unwanted belly fat, arm fat and thigh fat that we want to get rid of. Get on a workout that is focused on just that. NO CRASH DIETS! The weight you lose on those comes from your brain and your organs first. That’s why crash dieters look so sickly.
Lesson: FOCUS ON BUILDING LEAN MUSCLE TO LOSE UNWANTED FAT.
There you have it. Getting in the best shape of your life is so much simpler than everyone makes it out to be. These are three great steps to get you going. Now, just find a workout that you love. Keep it short and make sure it is FUN. As I say, “If you hate your workout, you will eventually quit then you will be no better off than when you started.”
